Courtney-Baker Oliver

Blacktivity is proud to announce the appointment of Creative Producer Courtney-Baker Oliver as our new Chief Creative Officer.

Courtney brings a wealth of knowledge, artistry, and leadership to this role. A filmmaker, producer, director, writer, composer, and theatre educator, he has spent his career cultivating talent and shaping narratives that honor the richness of Black culture. From his years teaching at Duke Ellington School of the Arts—where he mentored artists such as Corey Hawkins, Samira Wiley, and Blacktivity’s own Devin White—to his work as co-founder of Restoration Stage, Courtney has consistently demonstrated a commitment to storytelling that uplifts and inspires.

His career has included staging tributes for Maya Angelou, Cicely Tyson, and Dr. Dorothy Height; working with Diana Ross and Martin Luther King III; and directing the 50th Anniversary commemoration of the March on Washington. This year, his first feature film, Veils—Requiem for Trayvon, will make its debut, adding to his legacy of creating work that speaks to both truth and community.

Courtney’s passion for empowering artists and celebrating the beauty of Black life makes him an invaluable addition to our leadership team. As Blacktivity continues to build a home for storytellers, his vision and expertise will help guide the creative direction of our streaming network.

We’re thrilled to welcome Courtney Oliver to Blacktivity as our Chief Creative Officer, and we can’t wait to share the powerful stories his leadership will help bring to the world.
